Meet Our Chefs


Chef Guy Winks was born in Sumter, South Carolina, but grew up all over the United States as an Air Force brat. He is a certified Chef De Cuisine through the American Culinary Federation and ProChef level I and II certified through the Culinary Institute of America. He has 17 years of culinary experience, with more than 4 years as a chef instructor. His favorite cuisines are American regional and North African, and he has also never met a pastry he didn’t like. He is married to his best friend, Lesly, and has seven children.

Executive Chef Kevin Dean was born in Petersburg, VA.  He is the son of Claude and Barbara Dean.  Chef Dean attended Johnson and Wales University, where he obtained his certification.  He was the Co-Captain of the “Culinary Junkies Team” at the university and placed second in Culinary Competition.  Chef Dean developed and perfected his skills by working his way up the ranks in the culinary field; starting as a line cook at The West Wood Racquet Club, as well as The Ups and Downs Café.  He was later promoted to more demanding jobs and after several years, he became Executive Chef at Eurest Dining Services.  There, he participated in numerous culinary events and won first place in an event hosted in the state of Maryland.  The Chef’s specialty is Contemporary Down Home Cooking with a twist of American Regional Cuisine.  He is a very confident, but quiet person, who has a passion for food and interacting with people.

Personal Chef Michele Magana's appearance on "Good Morning Virginia" - WTVR, Richmond.  Michele is a Personal Chef who has made guest TV appearances in Connecticut and in Virginia (Good Morning Virginia, WTVR).  She is passionate about cooking and has a personality as large as her smile.   Michele dedicates her services to making her clients' lives easier and to remind the busy ones about the excitement and passion food brings. Her love for food includes palates from Africa, France, the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Executive Chef Brad Turner, formerly known for singing his way through the Army Pentagon Channel's "Grill Sergeants" has been one of the guest Chef's at our Inn. While on active military duty, Chef Turner competed against Chef Bobby Flay on the Food Network. The episode of "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" was taped at Fort Lee, VA.

Due to personal commitments, we regret to announce that we will not offer our regularly scheduled Spring/Summer program for 2011. We are excited however, and looking forward to a spectacular season next year!  Students can anticipate new and scrumptious recipes, several field trips to nearby culinary locations and much more..... Classes will resume May 2012. You don't want to miss what we are planning for YOU!!  We no longer offer Fall/Winter Sessions, but we hope you will join us for another awesome Season of "Grilling in the Garden" next Spring.  Until then....be healthy, and eat well!

ADDITIONAL CLASS INFORMATION

Classes are conducted by some of the Best Trained Culinary Professionals in the area. The team of instructors include several Executive Chefs from nearby communities, as well as, other guest Chefs! This group of individuals has an amazing array of Culinary Art skills and talent.  Seats for class offerings MUST BE purchased in advance on our website, or you can stop by the Inn and pay prior to the class date.  Classes will run every other Saturday; schedule and pricing is not available at this time.  Former Guests of the Inn will receive our Email Newsletter with Culinary updates!
